THAT LOVE - Sermon Series begins August 20
Many people like the idea of love, but the word can mean many things to many people. True love is more than a sentimental feeling. It's a love that discerns, it's a love that does not practice sin, and it's a love that will be rejected by the world but will overcome the world. Ultimately, it flows from "That Love" that comes to us from Jesus (1 John 4:10), and hopefully leads us to say, "I want to embody 'that love.'" We'll be looking at John's letters to see what true love looks like and how we can show the world that love.
Mission of the Month - India Transformed
This month we celebrate our long-time association with India Transformed!, an organization that raises support and awareness for programs that empower vulnerable children, women, and communities in India. By delivering hope through faith, lives are transformed spiritually, socially, and economically. The vision is for all people in India to live an abundant life.
The annual Pie-a-Thon, held every fall, benefits the Arise! Women’s Empowerment Program. Through a six-month tailoring and literacy course, impoverished women learn the necessary skills to find jobs and true hope for a better tomorrow.

It's a Girl movie screening - September 24
St. John’s is hosting a special screening* of It’s a Girl on September 24th at 11:30 in the Worship Center. Click the button below to register to attend this free event.
In India, China, & many other parts of the world today, girls are killed, aborted, and abandoned simply because they are girls. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of this so-called “gendercide”.
Shot on location in India and China, this documentary asks why this is happening and why so little is being done to save girls and women. The film tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters’ lives, and of other mothers who would kill for a son. Global experts and grassroots activists put the stories in context and advocate different paths towards change, while collectively lamenting the lack of any truly effective action against this injustice.

The St. John’s Church Pie-a-Thon Team will be in full swing this year making delicious apple pies to support the ARISE! Women’s Empowerment Program of India Transformed!
Volunteer: Volunteers are needed to help with pie making on Thursday/Friday/Saturday, September 28, 29, 30, and/or October 5, 6, 7. Click HERE to volunteer & select your shift!!

Parenting Safe Children Conference - September 30
Over the past several months, St. John's has been offered a variety of ways to learn more about keeping our children safe. We now have the opportunity to come together as a community to learn more about how we can collectively work to keep all our children safe. This is a must-attend workshop for people with children of all ages! You can attend this via Zoom at home, or together via Zoom at St. John's. Lunch and childcare will be provided for those who attend in-person.
We will learn: what makes children vulnerable, Body-safety rules, and how you can talk about your child's body safety with teachers, coaches, nannies, family members, faith leaders, and other parents.
Registration is $59 with a discounted early bird price of $20 for the first 45 registrants.
Foundations Class - October 22-November 12
If you want to take the next step on your spiritual journey and get better acquainted with our church's vision, join us for the Foundations Class. We will consider together God's revelation of who He is, God's love in Jesus Christ, and God's invitation to be one of Jesus' followers. The class is held for four Sundays: October 22 - November 12. Women's Conference - October 28
We are excited to invite you to St. John's/Renewal's annual women's conference featuring author and speaker Elyse Fitzpatrick! Elyse is the head of Women Helping Women Ministries and holds an MA in biblical counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary. She has authored more than two dozen books, including Because He Loves Me, Give them Grace, and Counsel from the Cross.
The cost to attend is $35/person. We will provide a light breakfast and coffee as well as lunch. We can't wait to see you there!
